3 John 1 - RWB Paraphrase (14 V) See Chapter at a Glance See Comments Go to top 1 The elder to the beloved Gaius, whom I love in the truth. 2 Beloved, I wish above all things that you may prosper and be in good health, even as your soul prospers. 3 I rejoiced greatly when the brethren brought word to me that you are walking in the truth. 4 Nothing gives me more joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth. 5 Beloved, you are being faithful in the things you do for the brethren and for strangers. 6 These have testified of your love before the church. You do well to send them on their way in a manner worthy of God. 7 For they went out for the sake of His name, accepting nothing from the Gentiles. 8 Therefore such men should be supported so that we may be fellow workers in the truth. 9 I wrote to the church, but Diotrephes loves preeminence among them and does not accept what we are saying. 10 For this reason, if I come, I will call attention to his deeds, having unjustly accused us with his malicious words. And not being satisfied with this, he has not received the brethren and even influences the church against them. 11 Beloved, do not follow what is evil, but instead follow what is good. He who does good is of God, but he who does evil has not seen God.
12 Demetrius has a good report from everyone and from the truth. And we add our testimony, and you know that our testimony is true.
13 I had many things I wanted to say to you but I will not do this with pen and ink.
14 I hope that before long we will speak face to face. Peace be to you. Our friends greet you. Greet them for us by name.
