John 1 - RWB Paraphrase (13 V) See Chapter at a Glance Go to top 1 The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth, as well as all those that have known the truth, 2 for the sake of the truth which abides forever. 3 Grace, mercy and peace be with you from God our Father, and from the LORD Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.
I was very glad to find your children walking in the truth, just as the Father has commanded.
Now I implore you, lady, concerning what is not a new commandment for you, but one you heard from the beginning, that you love one another.
And love is demonstrated when we walk according to His commandment, just as you have always been told.
Many deceivers have gone out into the world. They do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as having come in the flesh. This is the deception of the antichrist.
Watch yourselves, so that you do not lose what we have accomplished in you, that you may receive a full reward.
Anyone who transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. If he does abide in the doctrine of Christ, he has both the Father and the Son.
If anyone comes to you teaching something else, do not receive him into your house. And do not wish him well as he leaves.
For the one who wishes him well participates in his evil deeds.
I have many things to say to you and rather than put them all in writing I hope to come and speak face to face, that our joy may be full.
The children of your chosen sister greet you.
