1 Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect, and the acknowledging of truth according to godliness, 2 in the hope of eternal life, which God promised before the world began, and He cannot lie, 3 but at the proper time made His word known through preaching, which has been committed to me by the command of God our Savior. 4 To Titus, my true child in our common faith. Grace, mercy and peace, from God the Father and the LORD Jesus Christ our Savior. 5 For this reason I left Crete so that you would finish setting things in order, ordaining elders in every city, as I instructed you to do. 6 Elders are to be above reproach, the husband of one wife, whose children believe. And he must not be accused of dissipation or rebellion. 7 For as God's steward, an elder must be above reproach. He must not be selfwilled, quick tempered, addicted to wine, pugnacious, or fond of sordid gain. 8 Instead he must be hospitable, loving what is good, sober, just, holy, temperate, 9 holding fast the faithful word as he has been taught, that he may be able to teach and exhort sound doctrine and refute those who contradict it. 10 For there are many rebellious men who deceive with vain talk, and many who believe in circumcision. 11 They must be silenced because they upset entire families by teaching things they should not teach and this for sordid gain. 12 One of their own who is a prophet has said, Cretans are always liars, evil beasts and lazy gluttons. 13 This is a true. For this reason reprove them severely so that they may be sound in the faith, 14 not paying attention to Jewish fables and commandments of men that turned people from the truth. 15 To the pure, all things are pure, but to the defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure. They are defiled in mind and conscience. 16 They profess to know God, but their deeds deny God. They are detestable, disobedient and worthless for doing anything good.

1 You are to speak those things which make for sound doctrine. 2 Older men are to be temperate, dignified, sensible grounded in the faith, in love and patience. 3 Likewise, older women are to be reverent in behavior, not malicious gossips, or enslaved to much wine. They are to teach what is good, 4 so that they may encourage the younger women to love their husbands and children, 5 so they will be sensible, pure workers at home, kind and submissive to their husbands, so that God's word will not be dishonored. 6 In the same way urge the young men to be sober minded.

7 In all things show yourself an example of good deeds, with the pure doctrine, dignified, 8 having sound speech that is above reproach, so that any opponent will be put to shame having nothing bad to say about us. 9 Urge servants to obey their masters, pleasing them in all things without argument, 10 never pilfering their goods, and always showing good faith. In this way they will adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in all respects. 11 For the grace of God brings salvation to all men, 12 instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires, and to live sensible, godly lives in this present world. 13 We are to look for the blessed hope and appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, 14 who gave Himself to redeem us from every lawless deed. We are to be a people purified for Him, zealous for good works. 15 Speak of these things. Exhort and reprove with authority. Let no one disregard your words.

1 Remind them to be obedient to rulers and authorities, ready for every good deed, 2 maligning no one, peaceable, gentle and showing consideration to all men. 3 For we also were once foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved to various lusts and pleasures. We lived with malice, envy and hatred. 4 But when the kindness of our God and Savior appeared with His love for mankind, 5 he saved us, not on the basis of deeds of righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, 6 whom He poured upon us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 so that being justified by His grace we may be heirs to eternal life according to the blessed hope. 8 What I say next is worthy of note. I want you to be confident in what I say so that those who have believed God will continue in good works. This is profitable for everyone. 9 Avoid foolish controversies, genealogies, contentions and strivings about the Law, for these are worthless and without benefit. 10 Reject a heretic after warning him twice. 11 Know that such men are perverted sinners who are self-condemned.

12 When I send Artemas to you, or Tychicus, do your best to come to me at Nicopolis where I have decided to spend the winter. 13 Do all you can to see that Zenas the lawyer and Apollos lack nothing on their journey. 14 Our people must also learn to meet the needs of others as part of their fruitfulness.

15 All who are here with me greet you. Greet those who love us in the faith. Grace be with you all.
