1-8_Look at trials as a way to have your faith tested. This will result in greater endurance and the perfecting of your character. If you need wisdom, ask God for it. This requires faith.

__9-11_Let the poor man rejoice in the riches of salvation. Let the rich keep in perspective that they can't take it with them when they die.

__12-18_The LORD lets trials come to promote growth. No one should ever say that God tempted them. We are tempted through our own weaknesses. Any good thing is a gift from the Father of lights. It is His intention to make us the First Fruits of His creatures. He does this by His word of truth.

__19-27_Be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to anger. A man's anger is in opposition to God's righteousness. Put aside wickedness and humbly receive His word into your heart. As we look at His perfect law we are able to see ourselves for what we really are. God wants us to think of others and keep ourselves from sin.

1-13_Do not show favoritism to the rich. You must not make distinctions among yourselves. God has chosen the poor to be rich in faith. As you love your neighbor you fulfill the law. If you show partiality you are sinning. Judgment will be merciless to one who shows no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.

__14-26_Faith that saves is accompanied by works. If a person sees someone in need and does nothing to help, their faith is dead. And believing in God is not enough. One's work will demonstrate his faith. Abraham believed in God enough so that he did what God told him to do. For this God counted him righteous.

1-12_Those who teach will incur a stricter judgment. Are you sure you want to teach? The tongue though small has much to do with the outcome of one's life. It is difficult to tame. With it you can bless God and curse men made in His likeness.

__13-18_If anyone is wise and understanding it will be demonstrated by good behavior and gentle wisdom. The wisdom born of bitter jealousy and selfish ambition is demonic. Wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, and without hypocrisy.

1-10_The source of quarrels and conflict is the wickedness within you. You ask and do not receive because your motives are wrong. As the scripture says, God is opposed to the proud but gives grace to the humble. Submit yourselves to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.

__11-17_Do not speak against each other in matters of the law. There is one Lawgiver and Judge. He is able to save or destroy. It is not your place to judge your neighbor. You do not know the outcome of any day. It could be your last day. Determine to do whatever the LORD wills. Do what you know to be right. Otherwise you sin.

1-8_When the rich have their gain at the expense of the poor they may be certain of judgment. Be patient, brothers, for the LORD is coming soon. Just as the farmer waits patiently for the harvest to come after the early and latter rains, so you must be patient. After the rains you may expect the LORD to come.

__9-12_Strengthen your hearts, for the coming of the LORD is near. Your judgment will be easier if you are patient with each other. And do not swear by what you did not create. Just say yes, or no.

__13-20_When you suffer, pray. When you are happy, rejoice. Are you sick? Call the elders and ask them to pray for you and anoint you with oil in the name of the LORD. The prayer of faith will restore the sick. If they have sinned, the LORD will forgive. Watch over each other, helping one another to continue in God's truth.
