Theme: God will punish all who harm His people. Edom will meet its doom because it helped Babylon invade Judah. Because of their seemingly invincible rock fortress they have been proud and self confident. God will humble them.

1-9_Thus says the LORD concerning Edom. I will make you small among the nations. You are greatly despised. Your self-assuredness will be brought very low. Your allies will turn against you.

__10-14_Because of your violence against your brother Jacob you will come to shame and be cut off forever. You shall not gloat over your brother's misfortune. Do not take advantage of Jacob in his day of disaster.

__15-16_For the day of the LORD draws near on all nations. As you have done, so it will be done to you. Your dealings will return on your own head. Mount Zion will one day prevail. On that day the house of Jacob will be a fire and the house of Esau will be as stubble and they will be consumed with no survivors. The kingdom will be the LORD's.
