New Names For Abram And Sari - NKJ

1. As Abram and Sarai Came to an Important Turning Point in Their Lives, God Gave Them New Names. He Reestablished His Covenant with Them and Gave Abraham the Covenant of Circumcision.

Genesis 17:1-5 When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD ______________ to Abram and said to him, I am ______________ God; walk before Me and be ________________. [2] And I will make My covenant ____________ Me and you, and will ______________ you ___________________. [3] Then Abram fell on his face, and God talked with him, saying: [4] As for Me, behold, My covenant is with you, and you shall be a father of many nations. [5] No longer shall your name be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham; for I have made you a father of many nations.

Genesis 17:15-17 Then God said to Abraham, As for Sarai your wife, you shall not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall be her name. [16] And I will bless her and also give you a son by her; then I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of ____________; kings of ____________ shall be from her. [17] Then Abraham fell on his face and ____________, and said in his heart, Shall a child be born to a man who is one ____________ years old? And shall Sarah, who is __________ years old, bear a child?

4. God Gave Abraham a Very Hard Test to Show That Abraham Had Learned to Trust Him.

Genesis 22:1-2 Now it came to pass after these things that God __________ Abraham, and said to him, Abraham! And he said, Here I am. [2] Then He said, Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of __________, and offer him there as a burnt ______________ on one of the ________________ of which I shall tell you.

Genesis 22:6-8 So Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a _________, and the two of them went together. [7] But Isaac _________ to Abraham his father and said, My father! And he said, Here I am, my son. Then he said, Look, the fire and the wood, but _________ is the lamb for a burnt offering? [8] And Abraham said, My son, God will ____________ for ____________ the lamb for a burnt offering. So the two of them went together.

Genesis 22:9-12 Then they came to the place of which God had told him. And Abraham built an altar there and __________ the wood in order; and he bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar, upon the wood. Genesis 22:13 Then Abraham lifted his eyes and looked, and there behind him was a ram caught in a thicket by its horns. So Abraham went and took the ram, and offered it up for a burnt ______________ ____________ of his son.

God asked Abraham to offer his son as a sacrifice, but stopped him from actually doing it. God gave His own Son as a sacrifice for us. Jesus died for us so that we can be forgiven.
