Abram was Called by God to Move to a New Place That Would Be Given to His Descendants.

1. God's Call to Abram Caused Him to Leave His Home and Many of His Relatives.

Genesis 12:1-3 Now the LORD said to Abram, "Go from your country and your ____________ and your ______________ house to the land that I will show you. [2] And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great, so that you will be a ______________. [3] I will bless those who bless you, and him who curses you I will curse; and by you all the ______________ of the earth shall bless __________________."

Genesis 12:4-5 So Abram went, as the LORD had told him; and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he ______________ from Haran. [7] Then the LORD appeared to Abram, and said, "To your ___________________ I will give this land." So he built there an altar to the LORD, who had appeared to him.

2. Abram and Lot Both Had Very Large Flocks and Their Herdsmen Quarreled.

Genesis 13:11-13 So Lot chose for himself all the Jordan valley, and Lot ________________ east; thus they ________________ from each other. [12] Abram dwelt in the land of Canaan, while Lot dwelt among the cities of the valley and moved his tent as far as Sodom. [13] Now the men of Sodom were wicked, great sinners ____________ the LORD.

Abram was older and could have chosen the best for himself. Lot chose to his own hurt because Sodom was so wicked.

3. Once More the Lord Promised Abram That All the Land Would One Day Belong to His Descendants.

Genesis 13:14-18 The LORD said to Abram, after Lot had ________________ from him, "Lift up your eyes, and look from the place where you are, ________________ and southward and ______________ and ______________; [15] for all the land which you see I will give to you and to your descendants for ever. [17] Arise, walk through the __________ and the ____________ of the land, for I will give it to you." [18] So Abram moved his tent, and came and dwelt by the oaks of Mamre, which are at Hebron; and there he built an altar to the LORD.

Genesis 14:17-20 After his return from the defeat of Ched-or-lao'mer and the kings who were with him, the king of Sodom went out to meet him at the Valley of Shaveh (that is, the King's Valley). [24] I will take ____________ but what the young men have eaten, and the share of the men who went with me; let Aner, __________, and Mamre take their share."

6. Abram Questioned God's Promise of Children, Since He Still Had None. God Promised Him Children and Told of What Would Happen to Them Before the Land was Actually Theirs.

Genesis 15:1-6 After these things the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision, "Fear not, Abram, I am your shield; your reward shall be very great." [2] But Abram said, "O Lord GOD, what wilt thou give me, for I ______________ ________________, and the heir of my house is Elie'zer of ______________?" [3] And Abram said, "Behold, thou hast given me no offspring; and a slave born in my house will be my heir." [5] And he brought him ____________ and said, "Look toward heaven, and number the stars, if you are able to number them." Then he said to him, "So shall your ___________________ be."
