Messianic Prophecies1. Born In Bethlehem[5:2] But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting. [2:1] Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, 2. Born Of A Virgin[7:14] Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. [1:18] Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. [19] Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily. [20] But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. [21] And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. [22] Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, [23] Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. 3. In Lineage Of David[23:5] Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth. [22:16] I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. 4. Attempted Murder By Herod[31:15] Thus saith the LORD; A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping; Rahel weeping for her children refused to be comforted for her children, because they were not. [2:16] Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently enquired of the wise men. [17] Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, [18] In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not. 5. Betrayed By A Friend[41:9] Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me. [26:49] And forthwith he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, master; and kissed him. [50] And Jesus said unto him, Friend, wherefore art thou come? Then came they, and laid hands on Jesus and took him. 6. Sold For 30 Silver Coins[11:12] And I said unto them, If ye think good, give me my price; and if not, forbear. So they weighed for my price thirty pieces of silver. [26:14] Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests, [15] And said unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver. 7. The Money Cast To The Potter[11:13] And the LORD said unto me, Cast it unto the potter: a goodly price that I was prised at of them. And I took the thirty pieces of silver, and cast them to the potter in the house of the LORD. [27:5] And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself. [6] And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood. [7] And they took counsel, and bought with them the potters field, to bury strangers in. 8. The Disciples Forsook Him[13:7] Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, and against the man that is my fellow, saith the LORD of hosts: smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered: and I will turn mine hand upon the little ones. [26:56] But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled. 9. Accused By False Witnesses[35:11] False witnesses did rise up; they laid to my charge things that I knew not. [26:59] Now the chief priests, and elders, and all the council, sought false witness against Jesus, to put him to death; [60] But found none: yea, though many false witnesses came, yet found they none. At the last came two false witnesses, 10. Smitten And Spit Upon[50:6] I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting. [27:30] And they spit upon him, and took the reed, and smote him on the head. 11. Dumb Before His Accusers[53:7] He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. [27:12] And when he was accused of the chief priests and elders, he answered nothing. [13] Then said Pilate unto him, Hearest thou not how many things they witness against thee? [14] And he answered him to never a word; insomuch that the governor marvelled greatly. 12. Wounded And Bruised[53:5] But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. [27:26] Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified. [27] Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the common hall, and gathered unto him the whole band of soldiers. [28] And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe. [29] And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews! 13. Fell Under The Cross[109:24] My knees are weak through fasting; and my flesh faileth of fatness. [19:17] And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha: 14. Hands And Feet Pierced[22:16] For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet. [23:33] And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left. 15. Crucified With Thieves[53:12] Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors. [15:27] And with him they crucify two thieves; the one on his right hand, and the other on his left. [28] And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, And he was numbered with the transgressors. 16. Prayed For His Persecutors[53:12] Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors. [23:34] Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots. 17. People Shook Their Heads[109:25] I became also a reproach unto them: when they looked upon me they shaked their heads. [27:39] And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads, 18. People Ridiculed Him[22:8] He trusted on the LORD that he would deliver him: let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him. [27:41] Likewise also the chief priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders, said, [42] He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him. [43] He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God. 19. People Astonished[22:17] I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me. [23:35] And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God. 20. Lots Cast For His Clothes[22:18] They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture. [19:23] Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments, and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also his coat: now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout. [24] They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, They parted my raiment among them, and for my vesture they did cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers did. 21. Gall And Vinegar Given Him[69:21] They gave me also gall for my meat; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink. [19:28] After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst. [29] Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth. 22. No Bones Broken[34:20] He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken. [19:33] But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs: 23. His Forsaken Cry[22:1] My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring? [27:46] And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? 24. Committed Himself To God[31:5] Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O LORD God of truth. [23:46] And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost. 25. Heart Broken[22:14] I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels. [19:34] But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water. 26. His Side Pierced[12:10] And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn. [19:34] But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water. [35] And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe. [36] For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken. [37] And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced. 27. Darkness Over The Land[8:9] And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord GOD, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day: [27:45] Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour. 28. Buried In A Rich Man's Tomb[53:9] And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth. [27:57] When the even was come, there came a rich man of Arimathaea, named Joseph, who also himself was Jesus disciple: [58] He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered. [59] And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, [60] And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed. 29. Year And Day Of His Death[9:26] And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. [27:45] Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour. [46] And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? [47] Some of them that stood there, when they heard that, said, This man calleth for Elias. [48] And straightway one of them ran, and took a spunge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink. [49] The rest said, Let be, let us see whether Elias will come to save him. [50] Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost. 30. Raised The Third Day[6:2] After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight. [10:38] How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. [39] And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree: [40] Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly; Definition: mes-si-ah Noun The promised deliverer of the Jewish nation prophesied in the Hebrew Bible. Jesus, regarded by Christians as the Messiah of the Hebrew prophecies and the savior of humankind. There are over 300 messianic prophesies in the Bible. The prophesies in the above list are but a few of the more prominent ones. Using the laws of probability, if you have one prophesy, you have two possible outcomes: either fulfilled or not fulfilled. If you have two prophesies, you have four possible outcomes. Both fulfilled, neither fulfilled, only the first fulfilled, or only the second fulfilled. If you have thirty prophesies, the probability of all thirty being fulfilled is one in over a billion (1,073,741,824). Imagine the probability of fulfilling over three hundred prophesies. Jesus fulfilled every prophecy concerning the Messiah that was to come into the world. He came from God and He is our Messiah. Light of God's Word - Home Page Press Ctrl-P to print this page.
