39-The Holy Spirit - NKJ

1. Jesus Declares That the Holy Spirit Is a Divine Being by Calling the Spirit "Him", Not "It".".
John 16:7 _Nevertheless_ I tell you the truth. It is to your _advantage_ that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.

2. The Holy Spirit Convicts Us of Sin.
John 16:8 And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of _righteousness_, and of _judgment_:

3. Jesus Speaks of the Holy Spirit As Part of the Godhead.
Matthew 28:19-20 Go therefore and make _disciples_ of all the nations, _baptizing_ them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, [20] teaching them to observe all things that I have _commanded_ you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.

4. The Holy Spirit Can Be Grieved.
Ephesians 4:30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were _sealed_ for the day of _redemption_.

5. The Holy Spirit "Strives" with Us, Leading Us to Do Right.
Genesis 6:3 And the LORD said, My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, for he is indeed flesh; yet his days shall be one _hundred_ and _twenty_ years.

6. The Holy Spirit Intercedes for Us.
Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes _intercession_ for us with _groanings_ which cannot be uttered.

7. The Holy Spirit Has a Mind.
Romans 8:27 Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes _intercession_ for the saints _according_ to the will of God.

8. The Holy Spirit Bears Witness That We Are Children of God.
Romans 8:16 The Spirit Himself bears _witness_ with our spirit that we are _children_ of God,

9. The Holy Spirit Produces His Fruits in Our Lives.
Galatians 5:22-26 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, _longsuffering_, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, [23] _gentleness_, self-control. Against such there is no law. [24] And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. [25] If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. [26] Let us not become _conceited_, _provoking_ one another, envying one another.

10. The Holy Spirit Works A Transformation Of Character, Giving Us A New Heart.
Ezekiel 36:26-27 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. [27] I will put My Spirit within you and _cause_ you to walk in My _statutes_, and you will keep My _judgments_ and do them.

Hebrews 8:10 For this is the _covenant_ that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their _hearts_; and I will be their God, and they shall be My _people_.

11. The Spirit Participated with the Father and the Son in Creation and He Participates in Re-Creating Us, Too.
Genesis 1:2 The earth was without form, and void; and _darkness_ was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was _hovering_ over the face of the waters.

12. We May Be Assured That The Power Of The Holy Spirit Will Change His Faithful People By Dwelling In Them.
Romans 8:11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your _mortal_ _bodies_ through His Spirit who dwells in you.

13. The Holy Spirit Guides Us into All Truth.
John 16:13-14 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own _authority_, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. [14] He will _glorify_ Me, for He will take of what is Mine and _declare_ it to you.

14. The Holy Spirit Teaches Us.
John 14:26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the _Father_ will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your _remembrance_ all things that I said to you.

15. To Fully Reject the Convicting, Converting, Instructing Power of the Holy Spirit Is to Everlastingly Commit the Unpardonable Sin.
Matthew 12:31-32 "Therefore I say to you, _every_ sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. [32] _Anyone_ who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but _whoever_ speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, _either_ in this age or in the age to come.

16. As We Allow the Holy Spirit to Lead Us, We Become Sons and Daughters of God.
Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the _Spirit_ of God, _these_ are sons of God.
