1. God Wants Us to Prosper and Be in Good Health.
3 John 1:2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest _prosper_ and be in health, even as thy soul _prosper_eth.

2. Sanctification Includes the Body, Mind, and Emotions As Well As Spiritual Faculties.
1 Thessalonians 5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be _preserved_ _blameless_ unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

3. Present Your Body As a Living Sacrifice.
Romans 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your _reasonable_ service. [2] And be not _conformed_ to this world: but be ye _transformed_ by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

4. Your Body Is the Temple of God.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? [20] For ye are bought with a price: _therefore_ _glorify_ God in your body, and in your _spirit_, which are Gods.

5. Whatever You Eat Or Drink, Do All to the Glory of God.
1 Corinthians 10:31 _Whether_ therefore ye eat, or drink, or _whatsoever_ ye do, do all to the glory of God.

6. Wine Is a Mocker and Strong Drink Is a Raging.
Proverbs 20:1 Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and _whosoever_ is _deceived_ thereby is not wise.

7. Wine Causes All Kinds of Problems.
Proverbs 23:29-32 Who hath woe? who hath sorrow? who hath _contentions_? who hath babbling? who hath wounds without cause? who hath redness of eyes? [30] They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine. [31] Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright. [32] At the last it _biteth_ like a _serpent_, and _stingeth_ like an adder.

8. Woe to Those Intoxicated with Wine.
Isaiah 5:11 Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink; that _continue_ until night, till wine _inflame_ them!

9. Excessive Wine Leads to Violence.
Proverbs 4:17 For they eat the bread of _wickedness_, and drink the wine of _violence_.

10. Wine Perverts the Judgment of Kings.
Proverbs 31:4-5 It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink: [5] Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the _judgment_ of any of the _afflicted_.

11. Since We Are Kings and Priests Unto God, We Need Clear Minds.
Revelation 5:10 And hast made us unto our God kings and _priests_: and we shall reign on the _earth_.

12. God's Original Diet Was a Vegetarian Diet.
Genesis 1:29 And God said, _Behold_, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree _yielding_ seed; to you it shall be for meat.

13. Noah Understood the Difference Between Clean and Unclean Animals.

Genesis 7:2 Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by _sevens_, the male and his female: and of _beasts_ that are not clean by two, the male and his female.

14. Clean Animals Must Have a Split, Or Divided Hoof and Chew Their Cud. Unclean Animals Are Those Like the Pig That Does Not Have Both Features Just Mentioned.
Leviticus 11:1-8 And the LORD spake unto Moses and to Aaron, saying unto them, [2] Speak unto the _children_ of Israel, saying, These are the beasts which ye shall eat among all the beasts that are on the earth. [3] _Whatsoever_ _parteth_ the hoof, and is clovenfooted, and cheweth the cud, among the beasts, that shall ye eat. [4] _Nevertheless_ these shall ye not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that divide the hoof: as the _camel_, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you. [5] And the _coney_, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you. [6] And the hare, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you. [7] And the _swine_, _though_ he divide the hoof, and be clovenfooted, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you. [8] Of their _flesh_ shall ye not eat, and their _carcase_ shall ye not touch; they are unclean to you.

15. Clean Sea Animals Must Have Both Fins and Scales.
Leviticus 11:9-12 These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, them shall ye eat. [10] And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any _living_ _thing_ _which_ is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you: [11] They shall be _even_ an abomination unto you; ye shall not eat of their _flesh_, but ye shall have their _carcases_ in abomination. [12] Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that shall be an abomination unto you.

16. Those Who Rebel Against God's Dietary Standards Will Not Be in the Kingdom.
Isaiah 66:15-17 For, behold, the LORD will come with fire, and with his chariots like a _whirlwind_, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire. [16] For by fire and by his sword will the LORD plead with all flesh: and the slain of the LORD shall be many. [17] They that _sanctify_ themselves, and purify themselves in the gardens behind one tree in the midst, eating swines flesh, and the _abomination_, and the mouse, shall be _consumed_ _together_, saith the LORD.

17. God Links Eating Unclean Foods to Heathen Idolatry.
Isaiah 65:1-5 I am sought of them that asked not for me; I am found of them that sought me not: I said, Behold me, behold me, unto a nation that was not called by my name. [2] I have spread out my hands all the day unto a _rebellious_ people, which walketh in a way that was not good, after their own thoughts; [3] A people that _provoketh_ me to anger _continually_ to my face; that _sacrificeth_ in _gardens_, and burneth incense upon altars of brick; [4] Which remain among the graves, and lodge in the _monuments_, which eat swines flesh, and broth of abominable things is in their _vessels_; [5] Which say, Stand by _thyself_, come not near to me; for I am holier than thou. These are a smoke in my nose, a fire that burneth all the day.

18. Peter Had a Vision of a Sheet with All Kinds of Unclean Animals Which God Told Him to Eat.
Acts 10:9-16 On the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the _housetop_ to pray about the sixth hour: [10] And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance, [11] And saw heaven opened, and a _certain_ vessel _descending_ upon him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four _corners_, and let down to the earth: [12] _Wherein_ were all manner of _fourfooted_ beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and _creeping_ things, and fowls of the air. [13] And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat. [14] But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or _unclean_. [15] And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath _cleansed_, that call not thou common. [16] This was done thrice: and the vessel was _received_ up again into heaven.

19. Peter Later Understands That the Vision Does Not Apply to Food But to the Jewish Practice of Calling Gentiles Unclean. God Is Breaking Down Racial Barriers.
Acts 10:28 And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an _unlawful_ thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of _another_ nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or _unclean_.

20. Jesus Provides Spiritual Strength to Overcome Physical Habits.
Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through _Christ_ which _strengtheneth_ me.

21. Jesus Was Tempted Like We Are. He Fasted 40 Days and Overcame So That We, Too, May Receive His Power to Overcome.
Hebrews 4:15-16 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the _feeling_ of our infirmities; but was in all points _tempted_ like as we are, yet without sin. [16] Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may _obtain_ mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
