20-An Attempt to Change God's Law - RSV

1. Thy Word Is Truth.
John 17:17 _Sanctify_ them in the truth; thy _word_ is truth.

2. Truth Has Great Value.
Proverbs 23:23 Buy truth, and do not sell it; buy wisdom, _instruction_, and _understanding_.

3. Jesus Is the Same Yesterday, Today and Forever.
Hebrews 13:8 Jesus _Christ_ is the same _yesterday_ and today and for ever.

4. God Will Not Break His Covenant.
Psalms 89:34 I will not _violate_ my _covenant_, or alter the word that went forth from my lips.

5. The Commandments Were Written with the Finger of God.
Exodus 31:18 And he gave to Moses, when he had made an end of _speaking_ with him upon Mount Sinai, the two tables of the _testimony_, tables of stone, written with the finger of God.

6. Jesus Came to Fulfill Not Change the Law.
Matthew 5:17 "Think not that I have come to abolish the law and the _prophets_; I have come not to abolish them but to _fulfil_ them.

7. The Seventh-Day Sabbath Hallowed, Sanctified and Blessed in Eden.
Genesis 2:1-3 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. [2] And on the seventh day God finished his work which he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had done. [3] So God _blessed_ the seventh day and _hallowed_ it, _because_ on it God rested from all his work which he had done in _creation_.

8. Jesus Kept the Sabbath.
Luke 4:16 And he came to _Nazareth_, where he had been brought up; and he went to the _synagogue_, as his custom was, on the sabbath day. And he stood up to read;

9. Paul Kept the Sabbath.
Acts 13:42-44 As they went out, the people begged that these things might be told them the next sabbath. [43] And when the meeting of the _synagogue_ broke up, many Jews and devout converts to Judaism _followed_ Paul and Barnabas, who spoke to them and urged them to _continue_ in the grace of God. [44] The next sabbath almost the whole city _gathered_ together to hear the word of God.

10. Early Christianity Predicted Apostasy.
Acts 20:28-31 Take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you _overseers_, to care for the church of God which he obtained with the blood of his own Son. [29] I know that after my _departure_ fierce wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; [30] and from among your own selves will arise men speaking perverse things, to draw away the _disciples_ after them. [31] _Therefore_ be alert, _remembering_ that for three years I did not cease night or day to admonish every one with tears.

11. Truth Will Be Cast to the Ground.
Daniel 8:12 And the host was given over to it together with the continual burnt offering through _transgression_; and truth was cast down to the ground, and the horn acted and _prospered_.

12. An Attempt Is Made to Change God's Law.
Daniel 7:25 He shall speak words against the Most High, and shall wear out the _saints_ of the Most High, and shall think to _change_ the times and the law; and they shall be _given_ into his hand for a time, two times, and half a time.

13. Seal the Law Within God's People.
Isaiah 8:16 Bind up the _testimony_, seal the teaching among my _disciples_.

Exodus 20:8-11 "Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. [9] Six days you shall labor, and do all your work; [10] but the seventh day is a sabbath to the LORD your God; in it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your _daughter_, your _manservant_, or your _maidservant_, or your cattle, or the _sojourner_ who is within your gates; [11] for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day; _therefore_ the LORD blessed the sabbath day and _hallowed_ it.

14. God's People Will Receive the Seal of God Before the End of Time.
Revelation 7:1-3 After this I saw four angels _standing_ at the four _corners_ of the earth, _holding_ back the four winds of the earth, that no wind might blow on earth or sea or against any tree. [2] Then I saw _another_ angel ascend from the rising of the sun, with the seal of the living God, and he called with a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to harm earth and sea, [3] saying, "Do not harm the earth or the sea or the trees, till we have sealed the _servants_ of our God upon their _foreheads_."

15. God's Last Message Calls Us to Worship the Creator and to Keep His Commandments.
Revelation 14:7 And he said with a loud voice, "Fear God and give him glory, for the hour of his _judgment_ has come; and worship him who made heaven and earth, the sea and the _fountains_ of water."

16. God's People Are Faithful to Him.
Revelation 14:12 Here is a call for the _endurance_ of the saints, those who keep the _commandments_ of God and the faith of Jesus.
