17-Sabbath - NKJ

1. God's Final Message Is a Call to Worship the Creator.
Revelation 14:6-7 Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the _everlasting_ gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth--to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people-- [7] saying with a loud voice, "Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His _judgment_ has come; and _worship_ Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and _springs_ of water."

2. The Basis of All Worship Is the Fact That God Created Us.
Revelation 4:11 "You are worthy, O Lord, To _receive_ glory and honor and power; For You created all _things_, And by Your will they exist and were created."

3. Jesus Is Our Creator and We Are to Worship Him.
Ephesians 3:9 And to make all see what is the _fellowship_ of the mystery, which from the _beginning_ of the ages has been hidden in God who created all things through Jesus Christ;

4. We Worship Our Creator by Keeping the Sabbath.
Exodus 20:8-11 _Remember_ the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. [9] Six days you shall labor and do all your work, [10] but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your _daughter_, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your _stranger_ who is within your gates. [11] For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. _Therefore_ the LORD _blessed_ the Sabbath day and _hallowed_ it.

5. God Set the Sabbath Apart at Creation by Resting on It.
Genesis 2:1-3 Thus the heavens and the earth, and all the host of them, were _finished_. [2] And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. [3] Then God blessed the seventh day and _sanctified_ it, _because_ in it He rested from all His work which God had _created_ and made.

6. The Sabbath Was Given to Mankind 2, 300 Years Before the Existence of the Jews.
Mark 2:27-28 And He said to them, "The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. [28] _Therefore_ the Son of Man is also _Lord_ of the Sabbath."

7. The Sabbath Was Established for All Mankind As a Sign Between God and His People.
Ezekiel 20:12 Moreover I also gave them My _Sabbaths_, to be a sign between them and Me, that they might know that I am the Lord who _sanctifies_ them.

Ezekiel 20:20 Hallow My _Sabbaths_, and they will be a sign between Me and you, that you may know that I am the Lord your God.'

8. Jesus Was a Faithful Sabbath Keeper.
Luke 4:16 So He came to _Nazareth_, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the _synagogue_ on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read.

9. Jesus Predicted That the Sabbath Would Be Kept in 70 A. D.
Matthew 24:20 And pray that your flight may not be in _winter_ or on the _Sabbath_.

10. Paul Met with the Whole City to Worship on the Sabbath with Jews and Gentiles Alike.
Acts 13:42-44 So when the Jews went out of the _synagogue_, the Gentiles begged that these words might be preached to them the next Sabbath. [43] Now when the _congregation_ had broken up, many of the Jews and devout _proselytes_ followed Paul and Barnabas, who, speaking to them, _persuaded_ them to continue in the grace of God. [44] On the next Sabbath almost the whole city came together to hear the word of God.

11. Paul Met with a Group of Believers in Philippi to Worship on the Sabbath.
Acts 16:13 And on the Sabbath day we went out of the city to the _riverside_, where prayer was _customarily_ made; and we sat down and spoke to the women who met there.

12. The Lord Has Special Day at the End of the 1st Century.
Revelation 1:10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord's Day, and I heard _behind_ me a loud voice, as of a _trumpet_,

13. Since the Son of Man Is Lord of the Sabbath, It Must Be His Day.
Matthew 12:8 For the Son of Man is _Lord_ even of the _Sabbath_."

Mark 2:27-28 And He said to them, "The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. [28] _Therefore_ the Son of Man is also _Lord_ of the Sabbath."

Luke 6:5 And He said to them, "The Son of Man is also _Lord_ of the _Sabbath_."

14. Note the Following Three Days in Succession. Friday - the Day Christ Died-The Preparation Day.
Luke 23:53-56 Then he took it down, wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a tomb that was hewn out of the rock, where no one had ever lain before. [54] That day was the _Preparation_, and the Sabbath drew near. [55] And the women who had come with Him from Galilee followed after, and they observed the tomb and how His body was laid. [56] Then they returned and _prepared_ spices and _fragrant_ oils. And they rested on the Sabbath _according_ to the _commandment_.

15. Saturday - the Day Jesus Rested in the Tomb on the Day Between Friday and Sunday.
Jesus rested in the grave while His followers also rested on that Sabbath, waiting until the next day to use the spices and ointments that they had prepared for His body on the preparation day which was Friday.

 16. Sunday - the Day Jesus Was Resurrected.
Luke 24:1 Now on the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they, and certain other women with them, came to the tomb _bringing_ the spices which they had _prepared_.

17. Jesus Is the Same Yesterday, Today and Forever.
Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same _yesterday_, today, and _forever_.

18. In the New Heavens and the New Earth, We Shall Keep Sabbath Each Week.
Isaiah 66:22-23 "For as the new heavens and the new earth Which I will make shall remain before Me," says the Lord, "So shall your _descendants_ and your name remain. [23] And it shall come to pass That from one New Moon to another, And from one _Sabbath_ to another, All flesh shall come to _worship_ before Me," says the Lord.
