15-Law Of God - NIV

1. Heaven's Eternal Code of Conduct.
Psalms 111:7-8 The works of his hands are faithful and just; all his precepts are trustworthy. [8] They are steadfast for ever and ever, done in _faithfulness_ and _uprightness_.

2. The Law Brings Guilt and Drives Us to Jesus.
Romans 3:20 Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by _observing_ the law; rather, through the law we become _conscious_ of sin.

3. God's Law Leads to Conversion.
Psalms 19:7 The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul. The _statutes_ of the LORD are _trustworthy_, making wise the simple.

4. Keeping God's Law Brings Great Reward.
Psalms 19:11 By them is your _servant_ warned; in _keeping_ them there is great reward.

5. The Law Does Not Bring Salvation.
Romans 6:14 For sin shall not be your _master_, _because_ you are not under law, but under grace.

Ephesians 2:8 For it is by grace you have been _saved_, through faith--and this not from _yourselves_, it is the gift of God--

6. Grace Does Not Give Us Liberty to Break God's Law.
Romans 6:15 What then? Shall we sin _because_ we are not under law but under grace? By no _means_!

7. Sin Is Defined As Breaking God's Law.
1 John 3:4 _Everyone_ who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is _lawlessness_.

8. Sin Separates Us From God.
Isaiah 59:1-2 Surely the arm of the LORD is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear. [2] But your _iniquities_ have _separated_ you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is _eternal_ life in _Christ_ Jesus our Lord.

9. When We Are Saved by Faith We Want to Keep God's Law.
Romans 3:28-31 For we maintain that a man is _justified_ by faith apart from _observing_ the law. [29] Is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of Gentiles too? Yes, of Gentiles too, [30] since there is only one God, who will justify the _circumcised_ by faith and the un_circumcised_ through that same faith. [31] Do we, then, nullify the law by this faith? Not at all! Rather, we uphold the law.

Hebrews 10:17 Then he adds: "Their sins and _lawless_ acts I will _remember_ no more."

10. Love Leads Us to a Desire to Obey.
John 14:15 "If you love me, you will obey _what_ I _command_.

11. Not Keeping God's Commandments Shows That Something Is Lacking.
1 John 2:4-5 The man who says, "I know him," but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. [5] But if _anyone_ obeys his word, God's love is _truly_ made _complete_ in him. This is how we know we are in him:

12. Jesus Offers to Write His Law in Our Hearts.
Hebrews 8:10 This is the _covenant_ I will make with the house of Israel after that time, _declares_ the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.

13. Even the Desire to Do Right Comes From God.
Psalms 40:8 I desire to do your _will_, O my God; your law is within my _heart_."

14. God's Last Day People Keep the Commandments Through Faith.
Revelation 14:12 This calls for patient _endurance_ on the part of the saints who obey God's _commandments_ and remain faithful to Jesus.

15. God's Remnant, Like the Faithful of All Ages, Keep His Law.
Revelation 12:17 Then the dragon was enraged at the woman and went off to make war against the rest of her offspring--those who obey God's _commandments_ and hold to the _testimony_ of Jesus.
