13-Questions On The Second Coming - NKJ

1. Isn't Jesus Coming Secretly? Doesn't the Bible Say There Will Be Two in the Field, One Taken and the Other Left?
Matthew 24:40 Then two men will be in the field: one will be _taken_ and the _other_ left.

2. The Bible Makes It Abundantly Plain That Jesus' Second Coming Is Not a Secret Event.
Revelation 1:7 Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who _pierced_ Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn _because_ of Him. Even so, Amen.

Psalms 50:3 Our God shall come, and shall not keep silent; A fire shall _devour_ before Him, And it shall be very _tempestuous_ all around Him.

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 For the Lord _Himself_ will _descend_ from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the _trumpet_ of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. [17] Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall _always_ be with the Lord.

Matthew 24:27 For as the _lightning_ comes from the east and _flashes_ to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.

When the Bible speaks of those being left, it does not say they will be left alive on earth.

3. This Passage Describes the Event in Detail.
Luke 17:26-36 And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man: [27] They ate, they drank, they _married_ wives, they were given in _marriage_, until the day that Noah _entered_ the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. [28] Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot: They ate, they drank, they _bought_, they sold, they _planted_, they built; [29] but on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it _rained_ fire and _brimstone_ from heaven and destroyed them all. [30] Even so will it be in the day when the Son of Man is _revealed_. [31] In that day, he who is on the housetop, and his goods are in the house, let him not come down to take them away. And likewise the one who is in the field, let him not turn back. [32] _Remember_ Lot's wife. [33] Whoever seeks to save his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will _preserve_ it. [34] I tell you, in that night _there_ will be two men in one bed: the one will be taken and the other will be left. [35] Two _women_ will be _grinding_ _together_: the one will be taken and the other left. [36] Two men will be in the field: the one will be taken and the other left."

In Noah's day there were two classes. One class was taken, or saved, and one was left, or destroyed by the flood.

In Lot's day there were two classes. One class was taken out of the city and saved. The other class left in the city and consumed by fire. It will be similar when Jesus comes.

It will be similar when Jesus comes. One class will be taken to heaven with Jesus and the other class will be destroyed.

4. The Question Is Raised, "Where Lord? Where Are These People Left?".
Luke 17:37 And they answered and said to Him, "Where, Lord?" So He said to them, "Wherever the body is, there the eagles will be _gathered_ _together_."

Revelation 19:11-18 Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called _Faithful_ and True, and in _righteousness_ He judges and makes war. [12] His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. [13] He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. [14] And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, _followed_ Him on white horses. [15] Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the _nations_. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the _winepress_ of the _fierceness_ and wrath of Al_mighty_ God. [16] And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS. [17] Then I saw an angel _standing_ in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, _saying_ to all the birds that fly in the midst of heaven, "Come and _gather_ _together_ for the _supper_ of the great God, [18] that you may eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of _captains_, the flesh of _mighty_ men, the flesh of horses and of those who sit on them, and the flesh of all _people_, free and slave, both small and great."

The eagles eat carrion-dead things. The eagles Gather to feast on the dead.

Each Bible reference to Jesus coming as a thief is in reference to the unexpected time of His coming, not the manner of His coming. He comes quickly as a thief, unexpectedly as a thief, but in glorious splendor as lightening in triumphant glory.

5. The Wicked Are Destroyed When Jesus Comes.
2 Thessalonians 1:7-9 And to give you who are troubled rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, [8] in flaming fire taking _vengeance_ on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. [9] These shall be punished with _everlasting_ _destruction_ from the _presence_ of the Lord and from the glory of His power,

2 Thessalonians 2:8 And then the lawless one will be _revealed_, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the _brightness_ of His coming.

6. Doesn't the Bible Teach That Jesus Is Coming As a Thief?
1 Thessalonians 5:2 For you _yourselves_ know _perfectly_ that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night.

Matthew 24:42-44 Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. [43] But know this, that if the _master_ of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have _watched_ and not allowed his house to be _broken_ into. [44] Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not _expect_.

1 Thessalonians 5:1-5 But _concerning_ the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you. [2] For you _yourselves_ know _perfectly_ that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. [3] For when they say, "Peace and safety!" then sudden _destruction_ comes upon them, as labor pains upon a _pregnant_ woman. And they shall not escape. [4] But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should _overtake_ you as a thief. [5] You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness.

Matthew 24:27 For as the _lightning_ comes from the east and _flashes_ to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.

7. Do God's People Live Through the Coming Tribulation Or Are They Raptured Before the Tribulation? The Experiences of Ancient Israel Were Examples Given by God for His People Living at the Close of Time.
1 Corinthians 10:11 Now all these things happened to them as _examples_, and they were written for our _admonition_, upon whom the ends of the ages have come.

8. Shadrach, Meshack, and Abednego Entered the Flames When They Refused to Bow to the Idol Set up by Babylon's King.
Daniel 3:16-28 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego answered and said to the king, "O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. [17] If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. [18] But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up." [19] Then Nebuchadnezzar was full of fury, and the _expression_ on his face _changed_ toward Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego. He spoke and commanded that they heat the furnace seven times more than it was _usually_ heated. [20] And he commanded _certain_ mighty men of valor who were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, and cast them into the burning fiery furnace. [21] Then these men were bound in their coats, their _trousers_, their _turbans_, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. [22] _Therefore_, because the king's command was urgent, and the furnace _exceedingly_ hot, the flame of the fire killed those men who took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego. [23] And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. [24] Then King Nebuchadnezzar was _astonished_; and he rose in haste and spoke, saying to his counselors, "Did we not cast three men bound into the midst of the fire?" They answered and said to the king, "True, O king." [25] "Look!" he answered, "I see four men loose, _walking_ in the midst of the fire; and they are not hurt, and the form of the _fourth_ is like the Son of God." [26] Then Nebuchadnezzar went near the mouth of the burning fiery furnace and spoke, saying, "Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, servants of the Most High God, come out, and come here." Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego came from the midst of the fire. [27] And the _satraps_, _administrators_, _governors_, and the king's counselors _gathered_ _together_, and they saw these men on whose bodies the fire had no power; the hair of their head was not _singed_ nor were their garments _affected_, and the smell of fire was not on them. [28] Nebuchadnezzar spoke, saying, "_Blessed_ be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, who sent His Angel and _delivered_ His servants who _trusted_ in Him, and they have _frustrated_ the king's word, and _yielded_ their bodies, that they _should_ not serve nor worship any god _except_ their own God!

9. Jesus Comes As a Thief After the Plagues.
Revelation 16:15 "Behold, I am coming as a thief. Blessed is he who _watches_, and keeps his _garments_, lest he walk naked and they see his shame."

10. This Text Emphatically Declares "No Man Can Enter the (Heavenly) Temple Until the Plagues Are Completed. ".".
Revelation 15:8 The temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God and from His power, and no one was able to enter the temple till the seven _plagues_ of the seven angels were _completed_.

11. Anti-Christ Is Revealed Before Jesus Comes.
2 Thessalonians 2:1-3 Now, brethren, _concerning_ the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our _gathering_ together to Him, we ask you, [2] not to be soon shaken in mind or _troubled_, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come. [3] Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is _revealed_, the son of _perdition_,

12. The Anti-Christ Is Destroyed by the Brightness of His Coming.
2 Thessalonians 2:8 And then the lawless one will be _revealed_, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the _brightness_ of His coming.

13. Now Is the Day of Salvation.
2 Corinthians 6:2 For He says: "In an acceptable time I have heard you, And in the day of salvation I have _helped_ you." Behold, now is the _accepted_ time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

14. Both the Wheat and the Tares (The Righteous and the Wicked) Grow Together Until the Harvest.
Matthew 13:30 Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the _reapers_, "First gather together the tares and bind them in _bundles_ to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn." ' "

The righteous are saved and the unrighteous are lost. In the parable of the unfaithful servant, there is no second chance.

15. The Unfaithful Are Lost When the Lord of the Household Comes Unexpectedly.
Matthew 24:44-51 Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. [45] "Who then is a _faithful_ and wise servant, whom his master made ruler over his _household_, to give them food in due season? [46] Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing. [47] _Assuredly_, I say to you that he will make him ruler over all his goods. [48] But if that evil servant says in his heart, 'My master is _delaying_ his coming,' [49] and begins to beat his fellow _servants_, and to eat and drink with the _drunkards_, [50] the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him and at an hour that he is not aware of, [51] and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the _hypocrites_. There shall be _weeping_ and _gnashing_ of teeth.

16. In the Parable of the Sheep and the Goats, Men and Women Are Either Saved Or Lost When Jesus Comes.
Matthew 25:31-34 "When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. [32] All the nations will be _gathered_ before Him, and He will _separate_ them one from another, as a _shepherd_ divides his sheep from the goats. [33] And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. [34] Then the King will say to those on His right hand, 'Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the _kingdom_ _prepared_ for you from the _foundation_ of the world:
