13-Questions On The Second Coming - NAS

1. Isn't Jesus Coming Secretly? Doesn't the Bible Say There Will Be Two in the Field, One Taken and the Other Left?
Matthew 24:40 "Then there will be two men in the _field_; one will be _taken_ and one will be left.

2. The Bible Makes It Abundantly Plain That Jesus' Second Coming Is Not a Secret Event.
Revelation 1:7 BEHOLD, HE IS COMING WITH THE CLOUDS, and every eye will see Him, even those who _pierced_ Him; and all the _tribes_ of the earth will mourn over Him. So it is to be. Amen.

Psalms 50:3 May our God come and not keep silence; Fire _devours_ before Him, And it is very _tempestuous_ around Him.

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 For the Lord _Himself_ will _descend_ from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the _trumpet_ of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. [17] Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall _always_ be with the Lord.

Matthew 24:27 "For just as the _lightning_ comes from the east and _flashes_ even to the west, so will the coming of the Son of Man be.

When the Bible speaks of those being left, it does not say they will be left alive on earth.

3. This Passage Describes the Event in Detail.
Luke 17:26-36 "And just as it happened in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man: [27] they were eating, they were drinking, they were _marrying_, they were being given in _marriage_, until the day that Noah _entered_ the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. [28] "It was the same as happened in the days of Lot: they were eating, they were drinking, they were buying, they were _selling_, they were _planting_, they were _building_; [29] but on the day that Lot went out from Sodom it _rained_ fire and _brimstone_ from _heaven_ and destroyed them all. [30] "It will be just the same on the day that the Son of Man is _revealed_. [31] "On that day, the one who is on the housetop and whose goods are in the house must not go down to take them out; and _likewise_ the one who is in the field must not turn back. [32] "_Remember_ Lot's wife. [33] "Whoever seeks to keep his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will _preserve_ it. [34] "I tell you, on that night there will be two in one bed; one will be taken and the other will be left. [35] "There will be two women _grinding_ at the same place; one will be taken and the other will be left. [36] ["Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other will be left."]

In Noah's day there were two classes. One class was taken, or saved, and one was left, or destroyed by the flood.

In Lot's day there were two classes. One class was taken out of the city and saved. The other class left in the city and consumed by fire. It will be similar when Jesus comes.

It will be similar when Jesus comes. One class will be taken to heaven with Jesus and the other class will be destroyed.

4. The Question Is Raised, "Where Lord? Where Are These People Left?".
Luke 17:37 And answering they said to Him, "Where, Lord?" And He said to them, "Where the body is, there also the _vultures_ will be _gathered_."

Revelation 19:11-18 And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called _Faithful_ and True, and in _righteousness_ He judges and wages war. [12] His eyes are a flame of fire, and on His head are many _diadems_; and He has a name written on Him which no one knows except _Himself_. [13] He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. [14] And the armies which are in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, were _following_ Him on white horses. [15] From His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it He may strike down the _nations_, and He will rule them with a rod of iron; and He treads the wine press of the fierce wrath of God, the Al_mighty_. [16] And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, "KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS." [17] Then I saw an angel _standing_ in the sun, and he cried out with a loud voice, _saying_ to all the birds which fly in _midheaven_, "Come, _assemble_ for the great _supper_ of God, [18] so that you may eat the flesh of kings and the flesh of _commanders_ and the flesh of _mighty_ men and the flesh of horses and of those who sit on them and the flesh of all men, both free men and _slaves_, and small and great."

The eagles eat carrion-dead things. The eagles Gather to feast on the dead.

Each Bible reference to Jesus coming as a thief is in reference to the unexpected time of His coming, not the manner of His coming. He comes quickly as a thief, unexpectedly as a thief, but in glorious splendor as lightening in triumphant glory.

5. The Wicked Are Destroyed When Jesus Comes.
2 Thessalonians 1:7-9 And to give relief to you who are afflicted and to us as well when the Lord Jesus will be _revealed_ from heaven with His mighty angels in flaming fire, [8] dealing out _retribution_ to those who do not know God and to those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. [9] These will pay the penalty of eternal _destruction_, away from the _presence_ of the Lord and from the glory of His power,

2 Thessalonians 2:8 Then that lawless one will be _revealed_ whom the Lord will slay with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the _appearance_ of His coming;

6. Doesn't the Bible Teach That Jesus Is Coming As a Thief?
1 Thessalonians 5:2 For you _yourselves_ know full well that the day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the _night_.

Matthew 24:42-44 "Therefore be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming. [43] "But be sure of this, that if the head of the house had known at what time of the night the thief was coming, he would have been on the alert and would not have _allowed_ his house to be _broken_ into. [44] "For this _reason_ you also must be _ready_; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not _think_ He will.

1 Thessalonians 5:1-5 Now as to the times and the epochs, brethren, you have no need of anything to be _written_ to you. [2] For you _yourselves_ know full well that the day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the night. [3] While they are saying, "Peace and safety!" then _destruction_ will come upon them _suddenly_ like labor pains upon a woman with child, and they will not _escape_. [4] But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day would _overtake_ you like a thief; [5] for you are all sons of light and sons of day. We are not of night nor of darkness;

Matthew 24:27 "For just as the _lightning_ comes from the east and _flashes_ even to the west, so will the coming of the Son of Man be.

8. Shadrach, Meshack, and Abednego Entered the Flames When They Refused to Bow to the Idol Set up by Babylon's King.
Daniel 3:16-28 Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego replied to the king, "O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to give you an answer _concerning_ this matter. [17] "If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the furnace of blazing fire; and He will deliver us out of your hand, O king. [18] "But even if He does not, let it be known to you, O king, that we are not going to serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up." [19] Then Nebuchadnezzar was filled with wrath, and his facial _expression_ was _altered_ toward Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego. He _answered_ by giving orders to heat the furnace seven times more than it was _usually_ heated. [20] He commanded _certain_ _valiant_ _warriors_ who were in his army to tie up Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego in order to cast them into the furnace of blazing fire. [21] Then these men were tied up in their trousers, their coats, their caps and their other _clothes_, and were cast into the midst of the furnace of blazing fire. [22] For this reason, because the king's command was urgent and the furnace had been made _extremely_ hot, the flame of the fire slew those men who _carried_ up Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego. [23] But these three men, Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego, fell into the midst of the furnace of blazing fire still tied up. [24] Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astounded and stood up in haste; he said to his high officials, "Was it not three men we cast bound into the midst of the fire?" They replied to the king, "_Certainly_, O king." [25] He said, "Look! I see four men loosed and _walking_ about in the midst of the fire without harm, and the _appearance_ of the fourth is like a son of the gods!" [26] Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the door of the furnace of blazing fire; he responded and said, "Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego, come out, you servants of the Most High God, and come here!" Then Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego came out of the midst of the fire. [27] The _satraps_, the _prefects_, the _governors_ and the king's high officials _gathered_ around and saw in _regard_ to these men that the fire had no _effect_ on the bodies of these men nor was the hair of their head _singed_, nor were their trousers _damaged_, nor had the smell of fire even come upon them. [28] Nebuchadnezzar responded and said, "_Blessed_ be the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego, who has sent His angel and _delivered_ His servants who put their trust in Him, _violating_ the king's command, and _yielded_ up their bodies so as not to serve or worship any god _except_ their own God.

9. Jesus Comes As a Thief After the Plagues.
Revelation 16:15 ("Behold, I am coming like a thief. _Blessed_ is the one who stays awake and keeps his _clothes_, so that he will not walk about naked and men will not see his shame.")

Matthew 13:30 'Allow both to grow together until the harvest; and in the time of the harvest I will say to the _reapers_, "First gather up the tares and bind them in _bundles_ to burn them up; but gather the wheat into my barn."' "

The righteous are saved and the unrighteous are lost. In the parable of the unfaithful servant, there is no second chance.

15. The Unfaithful Are Lost When the Lord of the Household Comes Unexpectedly.
Matthew 24:44-51 "For this reason you also must be ready; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not think He will. [45] "Who then is the _faithful_ and _sensible_ slave whom his master put in charge of his _household_ to give them their food at the proper time? [46] "_Blessed_ is that slave whom his master finds so doing when he comes. [47] "Truly I say to you that he will put him in charge of all his _possessions_. [48] "But if that evil slave says in his heart, 'My master is not coming for a long time,' [49] and begins to beat his fellow slaves and eat and drink with _drunkards_; [50] the master of that slave will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour which he does not know, [51] and will cut him in pieces and _assign_ him a place with the _hypocrites_; in that place there will be _weeping_ and _gnashing_ of teeth.

16. In the Parable of the Sheep and the Goats, Men and Women Are Either Saved Or Lost When Jesus Comes.
Matthew 25:31-34 "But when the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on His glorious throne. [32] "All the nations will be _gathered_ before Him; and He will _separate_ them from one another, as the _shepherd_ _separate_s the sheep from the goats; [33] and He will put the sheep on His right, and the goats on the left. [34] "Then the King will say to those on His right, 'Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom _prepared_ for you from the _foundation_ of the world.
