12-Signs Of The Second Coming - RSV

1. Jesus Disciples Ask What Will Be the Signs of His Coming.
Matthew 24:3 As he sat on the Mount of Olives, the _disciples_ came to him _privately_, saying, "Tell us, when will this be, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the close of the age?"

2. False Religious Teachers.
Matthew 24:4-5 And Jesus answered them, "Take heed that no one leads you astray. [5] For many will come in my name, _saying_, 'I am the _Christ_,' and they will lead many astray.

Matthew 24:11 And many false _prophets_ will arise and lead many _astray_.

Matthew 24:24 For false Christs and false _prophets_ will arise and show great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if _possible_, even the elect.

3. Wars and Rumors of War.
Matthew 24:6-7 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars; see that you are not alarmed; for this must take place, but the end is not yet. [7] For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be _famines_ and _earthquakes_ in _various_ places:

4. Nations Are Angry.
Revelation 11:18 The nations raged, but thy wrath came, and the time for the dead to be judged, for rewarding thy servants, the prophets and saints, and those who fear thy name, both small and great, and for _destroying_ the _destroyers_ of the earth."

5. Men's Hearts Failing.
Luke 21:26 Men _fainting_ with fear and with foreboding of what is coming on the world; for the powers of the _heavens_ will be shaken.

6. Peace Talks.
1 Thessalonians 5:2-3 For you _yourselves_ know well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. [3] When people say, "There is peace and _security_," then sudden _destruction_ will come upon them as travail comes upon a woman with child, and there will be no escape.

7. Natural Disasters.
Matthew 24:7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and _earthquakes_ in _various_ places:

8. More Crime and Violence.
Matthew 24:12 And because _wickedness_ is _multiplied_, most men's love will grow cold.

9. Moral Decay.
2 Timothy 3:1-4 But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of stress. [2] For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, _disobedient_ to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, [3] inhuman, implacable, slanderers, _profligates_, fierce, haters of good, [4] _treacherous_, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,

10. Intemperance.
Matthew 24:37-39 As were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of man. [38] For as in those days before the flood they were eating and _drinking_, _marrying_ and giving in _marriage_, until the day when Noah _entered_ the ark, [39] and they did not know until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of man.

11. Economic Difficulties.
James 5:1-5 Come now, you rich, weep and howl for the miseries that are coming upon you. [2] Your riches have rotted and your garments are moth-eaten. [3] Your gold and silver have rusted, and their rust will be evidence against you and will eat your flesh like fire. You have laid up _treasure_ for the last days. [4] Behold, the wages of the _laborers_ who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, cry out; and the cries of the _harvesters_ have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts. [5] You have lived on the earth in luxury and in _pleasure_; you have _fattened_ your hearts in a day of _slaughter_.

12. Overwhelming Cares of Life.
Luke 21:34 "But take heed to yourselves lest your hearts be weighed down with _dissipation_ and _drunkenness_ and cares of this life, and that day come upon you suddenly like a snare;

13. Gospel Preached to the Whole World.
Matthew 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached _throughout_ the whole world, as a _testimony_ to all nations; and then the end will come.

Revelation 14:6-7 Then I saw another angel flying in _midheaven_, with an eternal gospel to _proclaim_ to those who dwell on earth, to every nation and tribe and tongue and people; [7] and he said with a loud voice, "Fear God and give him glory, for the hour of his _judgment_ has come; and worship him who made heaven and earth, the sea and the _fountains_ of water."

14. God Wants to Save Everyone.
2 Peter 3:8-10 But do not ignore this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. [9] The Lord is not slow about his promise as some count _slowness_, but is _forbearing_ toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach _repentance_. [10] But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the _heavens_ will pass away with a loud noise, and the _elements_ will be _dissolved_ with fire, and the earth and the works that are upon it will be burned up.

15. Some People Say That the Lord Will Not Come Soon.
Matthew 24:48 But if that wicked _servant_ says to _himself_, 'My master is delayed,'

16. God Counsels Us to Be Ready.
Matthew 24:42-44 Watch therefore, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming. [43] But know this, that if the householder had known in what part of the night the _thief_ was coming, he would have _watched_ and would not have let his house be broken into. [44] Therefore you also must be _ready_; for the Son of man is coming at an hour you do not _expect_.
