11-Manner Of Christ's Second Coming - NIV

1. Jesus Promised That He Would Return.
John 14:1-3 "Do not let your _hearts_ be _troubled_. Trust in God; trust also in me. [2] In my _Father's_ house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. [3] And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be _where_ I am.

2. Angels Confirmed the Promise.
Acts 1:9-11 After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight. [10] They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when _suddenly_ two men _dressed_ in white stood _beside_ them. [11] "Men of _Galilee_," they said, "why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same _Jesus_, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven."

3. Enoch Prophesied the Second Coming.
Jude 1:14 Enoch, the _seventh_ from Adam, _prophesied_ about these men: "See, the Lord is coming with thousands upon thousands of his holy ones

4. David Declares "Our Lord Shall Come".
Psalms 50:3 Our God comes and will not be silent; a fire _devours_ before him, and around him a _tempest_ rages.

5. Every Eye Shall See Him.
Revelation 1:7 Look, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who _pierced_ him; and all the _peoples_ of the earth will mourn because of him. So shall it be! Amen.

6. His Return Will Be Like Lightning.
Matthew 24:27 For as _lightning_ that comes from the east is _visible_ even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.

7. The Second Coming Will Be Audible.
1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 For the Lord _himself_ will come down from heaven, with a loud _command_, with the voice of the archangel and with the _trumpet_ call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. [17] After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord _forever_.

8. We Will Be Clothed with Immortality.
1 Corinthians 15:51-54 Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed-- [52] in a flash, in the _twinkling_ of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. [53] For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. [54] When the perishable has been _clothed_ with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is _written_ will come true: "Death has been _swallowed_ up in _victory_."

9. His Return Will Be a Glorious Event.
Matthew 16:27 For the Son of Man is going to come in his _Father's_ glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person _according_ to what he has done.

10. The Wicked Will Not Be Happy.
Revelation 6:14-17 The sky _receded_ like a scroll, _rolling_ up, and every _mountain_ and island was _removed_ from its place. [15] Then the kings of the earth, the _princes_, the _generals_, the rich, the mighty, and every slave and every free man hid in caves and among the rocks of the _mountain_s. [16] They called to the _mountain_s and the rocks, "Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! [17] For the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?"

11. The Evil Are Destroyed and the Righteous Are Saved.
Matthew 13:37-43 He answered, "The one who sowed the good seed is the Son of Man. [38] The field is the world, and the good seed stands for the sons of the kingdom. The weeds are the sons of the evil one, [39] and the enemy who sows them is the devil. The _harvest_ is the end of the age, and the _harvest_ers are angels. [40] "As the weeds are pulled up and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of the age. [41] The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom _everything_ that _causes_ sin and all who do evil. [42] They will throw them into the fiery _furnace_, where there will be _weeping_ and _gnashing_ of teeth. [43] Then the _righteous_ will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their _Father_. He who has ears, let him hear.

12. To the Righteous It Is a Joyous Event.
Isaiah 25:9 In that day they will say, "Surely this is our God; we trusted in him, and he saved us. This is the LORD, we trusted in him; let us _rejoice_ and be glad in his _salvation_."

13. Jesus Returns As King of Kings.
Revelation 19:11-16 I saw heaven _standing_ open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called _Faithful_ and True. With _justice_ he judges and makes war. [12] His eyes are like _blazing_ fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he _himself_. [13] He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. [14] The armies of heaven were _following_ him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. [15] Out of his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the _nations_. "He will rule them with an iron _scepter_." He treads the _winepress_ of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. [16] On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.

14. The Blessed Hope.
Titus 2:13 While we wait for the blessed hope--the _glorious_ _appearing_ of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ,

15. Jesus' Final Invitation.
Revelation 22:11-12 Let him who does wrong continue to do wrong; let him who is vile continue to be vile; let him who does right continue to do right; and let him who is holy continue to be holy." [12] "Behold, I am coming soon! My _reward_ is with me, and I will give to _everyone_ _according_ to what he has done.

Revelation 22:17-20 The Spirit and the bride say, "Come!" And let him who hears say, "Come!" Whoever is _thirsty_, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life. [18] I warn _everyone_ who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds _anything_ to them, God will add to him the _plagues_ described in this book. [19] And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book. [20] He who _testifies_ to these _things_ says, "Yes, I am _coming_ soon." Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.
