1. Nebuchadnezzar Dreamed a Troubling Dream.

Daniel 2:1 Now in the second year of Nebuchadnezzar's reign, Nebuchadnezzar had dreams; and his _spirit_ was so _troubled_ that his sleep left him.

2. The King's Wise Men Cannot Recall Or Explain the Dream.

Daniel 2:2-11 Then the king gave the _command_ to call the magicians, the astrologers, the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans to tell the king his dreams. So they came and stood before the king. [3] And the king said to them, "I have had a dream, and my spirit is anxious to know the dream." [4] Then the Chaldeans spoke to the king in _Aramaic_, "O king, live forever! Tell your servants the dream, and we will give the interpretation." [5] The king answered and said to the Chaldeans, "My decision is firm: if you do not make known the dream to me, and its interpretation, you shall be cut in pieces, and your _houses_ shall be made an ash heap. [6] _However_, if you tell the dream and its interpretation, you shall _receive_ from me gifts, _rewards_, and great honor. Therefore tell me the dream and its interpretation." [7] They answered again and said, "Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will give its interpretation." [8] The king answered and said, "I know for _certain_ that you would gain time, _because_ you see that my decision is firm: [9] if you do not make known the dream to me, there is only one _decree_ for you! For you have _agreed_ to speak lying and _corrupt_ words before me till the time has _changed_. Therefore tell me the dream, and I shall know that you can give me its interpretation." [10] The Chaldeans answered the king, and said, "There is not a man on earth who can tell the _king's_ _matter_; therefore no king, lord, or ruler has ever asked such things of any magician, astrologer, or Chaldean. [11] It is a _difficult_ thing that the king _requests_, and there is no other who can tell it to the king _except_ the gods, whose _dwelling_ is not with flesh."

3. Daniel Asks for Time.

Daniel 2:16 So _Daniel_ went in and asked the king to give him time, that he might tell the king the _interpretation_.

4. God Reveals the Dream to Daniel.

Daniel 2:19-23 Then the secret was _revealed_ to Daniel in a night vision. So Daniel blessed the God of heaven. [20] Daniel answered and said: "Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, For wisdom and might are His. [21] And He changes the times and the seasons; He _removes_ kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise And _knowledge_ to those who have _understanding_. [22] He _reveals_ deep and secret things; He knows what is in the _darkness_, And light dwells with Him. [23] "I thank You and praise You, O God of my _fathers_; You have given me wisdom and might, And have now made known to me what we asked of You, For You have made known to us the king's demand."

5. There Is a God in Heaven Who Reveals Secrets.

Daniel 2:28 But there is a God in heaven who reveals secrets, and He has made known to King _Nebuchadnezzar_ what will be in the latter days. Your dream, and the _visions_ of your head upon your bed, were these:

6. The Dream Reveals What Shall Come to Pass.

Daniel 2:29-30 As for you, O king, thoughts came to your mind while on your bed, about what would come to pass after this; and He who _reveals_ secrets has made known to you what will be. [30] But as for me, this secret has not been _revealed_ to me _because_ I have more wisdom than anyone living, but for our sakes who make known the _interpretation_ to the king, and that you may know the thoughts of your heart.

7. The Dream Revealed.

Daniel 2:31 "You, O king, were watching; and behold, a great image! This great image, whose _splendor_ was _excellent_, stood before you; and its form was awesome.

Daniel 2:32-35 This image's head was of fine gold, its chest and arms of silver, its belly and thighs of bronze, [33] its legs of iron, its feet partly of iron and partly of clay. [34] You _watched_ while a stone was cut out without hands, which struck the image on its feet of iron and clay, and broke them in pieces. [35] Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver, and the gold were _crushed_ _together_, and became like chaff from the summer _threshing_ floors; the wind _carried_ them away so that no trace of them was found. And the stone that struck the image became a great _mountain_ and _filled_ the whole earth.

8. The Dream Interpreted.

Daniel 2:36 "This is the dream. Now we will tell the _interpretation_ of it _before_ the king.

9. Nebuchadnezzar Is the Head of Gold.

Daniel 2:38 And _wherever_ the _children_ of men dwell, or the beasts of the field and the birds of the heaven, He has given them into your hand, and has made you ruler over them all--you are this head of gold.

Babylon lasted from 605 BC To 539 BC.

10. The Medes and Persians Overthrew the Babylonians.

Daniel 5:28 Peres: Your kingdom has been _divided_, and given to the Medes and _Persians_."

Daniel 5:30-31 That very night Belshazzar, king of the _Chaldeans_, was slain. [31] And Darius the Mede _received_ the kingdom, being about sixty-two years old.

11. The Amazing Prediction Of Cyrus.

Isaiah 44:27-28 Who says to the deep, 'Be dry! And I will dry up your rivers'; [28] Who says of Cyrus, 'He is My shepherd, And he shall perform all My _pleasure_, Saying to _Jerusalem_, "You shall be built," And to the temple, "Your _foundation_ shall be laid." '

Isaiah 45:1 "Thus says the Lord to His _anointed_, To Cyrus, whose right hand I have held-- To subdue _nations_ before him And loose the armor of kings, To open before him the double doors, So that the gates will not be shut:

Amos 3:7 Surely the Lord God does nothing, Unless He reveals His secret to His _servants_ the _prophets_.

This prophecy was made over 100 years in advance.

12. A Third Kingdom Predicted.

Daniel 2:39 But after you shall arise another kingdom _inferior_ to yours; then another, a third kingdom of _bronze_, which shall rule over all the earth.

13. Greece Conquered Medo-Persia.

Daniel 8:20-21 The ram which you saw, having the two horns--they are the kings of Media and Persia. [21] And the male goat is the kingdom of _Greece_. The large horn that is _between_ its eyes is the first king.

Medo-Persia lasted from 539 BC To 331 BC.
The Greeks ruled from 331 BC To 168 BC.

14. A Fourth Kingdom Strong As Iron.

Daniel 2:40 And the fourth kingdom shall be as strong as iron, inasmuch as iron breaks in pieces and _shatters_ _everything_; and like iron that crushes, that kingdom will break in pieces and crush all the others.

Rome ruled from 168 BC To 351 AD.

16. Kings and Queens Attempt to Unite Europe Inter-Marriage.

Daniel 2:43 As you saw iron mixed with _ceramic_ clay, they will mingle with the seed of men; but they will not adhere to one _another_, just as iron does not mix with clay.

17. Eventually God Will Establish His Kingdom.

Daniel 2:44 And in the days of these kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be _destroyed_; and the kingdom shall not be left to other people; it shall break in pieces and consume all these _kingdoms_, and it shall stand _forever_.

18. The Rock Cut Out without Hands Is Jesus' Kingdom.

19. The Heathen Are Broken to Pieces (Like the Image).

Psalms 2:8-9 Ask of Me, and I will give You The nations for Your _inheritance_, And the ends of the earth for Your _possession_. [9] You shall break them with a rod of iron; You shall dash them to pieces like a _potter's_ vessel.' "

20. Blessed Hope and Glorious Appearing.

Titus 2:11-13 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, [12] teaching us that, denying _ungodliness_ and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, _righteously_, and godly in the present age, [13] looking for the blessed hope and glorious _appearing_ of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,
