1. Nebuchadnezzar Dreamed a Troubling Dream.

Daniel 2:1 And in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams, _wherewith_ his spirit was _troubled_, and his sleep brake from him.

2. The King's Wise Men Cannot Recall Or Explain the Dream.

Daniel 2:2-11 Then the king _commanded_ to call the magicians, and the astrologers, and the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans, for to shew the king his dreams. So they came and stood before the king. [3] And the king said unto them, I have dreamed a dream, and my spirit was _troubled_ to know the dream. [4] Then spake the Chaldeans to the king in _Syriack_, O king, live for ever: tell thy servants the dream, and we will shew the interpretation. [5] The king answered and said to the Chaldeans, The thing is gone from me: if ye will not make known unto me the dream, with the interpretation thereof, ye shall be cut in _pieces_, and your _houses_ shall be made a _dunghill_. [6] But if ye shew the dream, and the interpretation thereof, ye shall _receive_ of me gifts and _rewards_ and great _honour_: therefore shew me the dream, and the interpretation thereof. [7] They answered again and said, Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will shew the interpretation of it. [8] The king answered and said, I know of _certainty_ that ye would gain the time, because ye see the thing is gone from me. [9] But if ye will not make known unto me the dream, there is but one _decree_ for you: for ye have _prepared_ lying and _corrupt_ words to speak before me, till the time be _changed_: therefore tell me the dream, and I shall know that ye can shew me the interpretation thereof. [10] The Chaldeans answered before the king, and said, There is not a man upon the earth that can shew the kings _matter_: therefore there is no king, lord, nor ruler, that asked such _things_ at any magician, or astrologer, or Chaldean. [11] And it is a rare thing that the king _requireth_, and there is none other that can shew it before the king, _except_ the gods, whose _dwelling_ is not with flesh.

3. Daniel Asks for Time.

Daniel 2:16 Then Daniel went in, and _desired_ of the king that he would give him time, and that he would shew the king the _interpretation_.

4. God Reveals the Dream to Daniel.

Daniel 2:19-23 Then was the secret _revealed_ unto Daniel in a night vision. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven. [20] Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his: [21] And he _changeth_ the times and the seasons: he _removeth_ kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know _understanding_: [22] He _revealeth_ the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the _darkness_, and the light _dwelleth_ with him. [23] I thank thee, and praise thee, O thou God of my fathers, who hast given me wisdom and might, and hast made known unto me now what we _desired_ of thee: for thou hast now made known unto us the kings matter.

5. There Is a God in Heaven Who Reveals Secrets.

Daniel 2:28 But there is a God in heaven that _revealeth_ secrets, and maketh known to the king _Nebuchadnezzar_ what shall be in the latter days. Thy dream, and the visions of thy head upon thy bed, are these;

6. The Dream Reveals What Shall Come to Pass.

Daniel 2:29-30 As for thee, O king, thy thoughts came into thy mind upon thy bed, what should come to pass hereafter: and he that _revealeth_ secrets maketh known to thee what shall come to pass. [30] But as for me, this secret is not _revealed_ to me for any wisdom that I have more than any living, but for their sakes that shall make known the _interpretation_ to the king, and that thou _mightest_ know the thoughts of thy heart.

7. The Dream Revealed.

Daniel 2:31 Thou, O king, sawest, and behold a great image. This great image, whose _brightness_ was _excellent_, stood before thee; and the form thereof was terrible.

Daniel 2:32-35 This images head was of fine gold, his breast and his arms of silver, his belly and his thighs of brass, [33] His legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of clay. [34] Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces. [35] Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, _broken_ to pieces _together_, and became like the chaff of the _summer_ _threshingfloors_; and the wind _carried_ them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great _mountain_, and _filled_ the whole earth.

8. The Dream Interpreted.

Daniel 2:36 This is the dream; and we will tell the _interpretation_ thereof _before_ the king.

9. Nebuchadnezzar Is the Head of Gold.

Daniel 2:38 And _wheresoever_ the _children_ of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all. Thou art this head of gold.

Babylon lasted from 605 BC To 539 BC.

10. The Medes and Persians Overthrew the Babylonians.

Daniel 5:28 PERES; Thy kingdom is _divided_, and given to the Medes and _Persians_.

Daniel 5:30-31 In that night was Belshazzar the king of the _Chaldeans_ slain. [31] And Darius the Median took the kingdom, being about _threescore_ and two years old.

11. The Amazing Prediction Of Cyrus.

Isaiah 44:27-28 That saith to the deep, Be dry, and I will dry up thy rivers: [28] That saith of Cyrus, He is my shepherd, and shall perform all my _pleasure_: even saying to _Jerusalem_, Thou shalt be built; and to the temple, Thy _foundation_ shall be laid.

Isaiah 45:1 Thus saith the LORD to his _anointed_, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have holden, to subdue _nations_ before him; and I will loose the loins of kings, to open before him the two leaved gates; and the gates shall not be shut;

Amos 3:7 Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he _revealeth_ his secret unto his servants the _prophets_.

This prophecy was made over 100 years in advance.

12. A Third Kingdom Predicted.

Daniel 2:39 And after thee shall arise another kingdom _inferior_ to thee, and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the _earth_.

13. Greece Conquered Medo-Persia.

Daniel 8:20-21 The ram which thou sawest having two horns are the kings of Media and Persia. [21] And the rough goat is the king of _Grecia_: and the great horn that is _between_ his eyes is the first king.

Medo-Persia lasted from 539 BC To 331 BC.
The Greeks ruled from 331 BC To 168 BC.

14. A Fourth Kingdom Strong As Iron.

Daniel 2:40 And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron: _forasmuch_ as iron breaketh in pieces and _subdueth_ all things: and as iron that breaketh all these, shall it break in pieces and bruise.

Rome ruled from 168 BC To 351 AD.

16. Kings and Queens Attempt to Unite Europe Inter-Marriage.

Daniel 2:43 And _whereas_ thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to _another_, even as iron is not mixed with clay.

17. Eventually God Will Establish His Kingdom.

Daniel 2:44 And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be _destroyed_: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and _consume_ all these _kingdoms_, and it shall stand for ever.

18. The Rock Cut Out without Hands Is Jesus' Kingdom.

19. The Heathen Are Broken to Pieces (Like the Image).

Psalms 2:8-9 Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the _uttermost_ parts of the earth for thy _possession_. [9] Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potters vessel.

20. Blessed Hope and Glorious Appearing.

Titus 2:11-13 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, [12] Teaching us that, denying _ungodliness_ and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, _righteously_, and godly, in this present world; [13] Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious _appearing_ of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
