7-Salvation - RSV

1. God Wants to Redeem Us Because He Loves Us.
1 John 4:8-9 He who does not love does not know God; for God is love. [9] In this the love of God was made _manifest_ among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we _might_ live through him.

2. God Created Us in His Image.
Genesis 1:27-28 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. [28] And God _blessed_ them, and God said to them, "Be _fruitful_ and _multiply_, and fill the earth and subdue it; and have _dominion_ over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth."

3. Sin Destroyed Our Fellowship with God.
Genesis 3:8 And they heard the sound of the LORD God _walking_ in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the _presence_ of the LORD God among the trees of the garden.

4. Everyone Has Sinned and Will Die.
Romans 3:23 Since all have _sinned_ and fall short of the _glory_ of God,

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is _eternal_ life in _Christ_ Jesus our Lord.

5. Adam Brought Death and Jesus Brings Life.
Romans 5:18-19 Then as one man's trespass led to _condemnation_ for all men, so one man's act of righteousness leads to acquittal and life for all men. [19] For as by one man's dis_obedience_ many were made sinners, so by one man's _obedience_ many will be made righteous.

6. Jesus Bore Our Curse.
Galatians 3:13 Christ _redeemed_ us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us--for it is _written_, "Cursed be every one who hangs on a tree" --

Hebrews 2:8-9 Putting everything in subjection under his feet." Now in putting everything in subjection to him, he left nothing _outside_ his control. As it is, we do not yet see everything in subjection to him. [9] But we see Jesus, who for a little while was made lower than the angels, _crowned_ with glory and honor _because_ of the _suffering_ of death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for every one.

2 Corinthians 5:21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might _become_ the _righteousness_ of God.

7. As We Repent, He Forgives.
Acts 3:19 Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, that times of _refreshing_ may come from the _presence_ of the Lord,

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is _faithful_ and just, and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all _unrighteousness_.

8. Receiving Jesus, We Are No Longer Condemned.
Romans 8:1 There is _therefore_ now no _condemnation_ for those who are in Christ Jesus.

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through _faith_; and this is not your own _doing_, it is the gift of God--

9. Receive Jesus and Become Sons and Daughters of God.
John 1:12 But to all who received him, who _believed_ in his name, he gave power to become _children_ of God;

10. Believe in Him and Receive Eternal Life.
1 John 5:11-13 And this is the _testimony_, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. [12] He who has the Son has life; he who has not the Son of God has not life. [13] I _write_ this to you who _believe_ in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you _have_ eternal life.

11. The Gift of Salvation Is An Experience for the Present.
John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that _whoever_ believes in him should not perish but have _eternal_ life. [17] For God sent the Son into the world, not to _condemn_ the world, but that the world might be saved through him.
