5-The Divinity Of Christ - NIV

1. Immanuel - God Is with Us.
Matthew 1:23 "The _virgin_ will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel"--which _means_, "God with us."

2. The Word Was God.
John 1:1 In the _beginning_ was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

3. Jesus Declared His Self-Existence.
John 8:58 "I tell you the truth," Jesus _answered_, "_before_ Abraham was born, I am!"

4. I Am Is the Name of God.
Exodus 3:14 God said to _Moses_, "I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: 'I AM has _sent_ me to you.' "

5. Jesus Forgave Sins.
Luke 5:20-24 When Jesus saw their faith, he said, "Friend, your sins are forgiven." [21] The _Pharisees_ and the _teachers_ of the law began thinking to _themselves_, "Who is this fellow who speaks _blasphemy_? Who can forgive sins but God alone?" [22] Jesus knew what they were thinking and asked, "Why are you thinking these things in your hearts? [23] Which is _easier_: to say, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Get up and walk'? [24] But that you may know that the Son of Man has _authority_ on earth to forgive sins . . ." He said to the _paralyzed_ man, "I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home."

6. Thomas Testified That He Was Both Lord and God.
John 20:28 _Thomas_ said to him, "My _Lord_ and my God!"

7. The Father Addresses the Son of God.
Hebrews 1:5-9 For to which of the angels did God ever say, "You are my Son; today I have become your Father " ? Or again, "I will be his Father, and he will be my Son" ? [6] And again, when God brings his _firstborn_ into the world, he says, "Let all God's angels worship him." [7] In _speaking_ of the angels he says, "He makes his angels winds, his _servants_ flames of fire." [8] But about the Son he says, "Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever, and righteousness will be the scepter of your _kingdom_. [9] You have loved righteousness and hated _wickedness_; therefore God, your God, has set you above your _companions_ by _anointing_ you with the oil of joy."

8. Jesus Christ Is Eternal.
Isaiah 9:6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the _government_ will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, _Everlasting_ Father, Prince of Peace.

Micah 5:2 "But you, Bethlehem _Ephrathah_, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from _ancient_ times. "

1 Timothy 6:15-16 Which God will bring about in his own time--God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords, [16] who alone is _immortal_ and who lives in _unapproachable_ light, whom no one has seen or can see. To him be honor and might _forever_. Amen.

Revelation 1:18 I am the _Living_ One; I was dead, and _behold_ I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.

9. Jesus Voluntary Sacrifice for Us.
Philippians 2:5-12 Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: [6] Who, being in very nature God, did not _consider_ _equality_ with God _something_ to be grasped, [7] but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human _likeness_. [8] And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became _obedient_ to death-- even death on a cross! [9] Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, [10] that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, [11] and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. [12] Therefore, my dear _friends_, as you have always obeyed--not only in my _presence_, but now much more in my absence--continue to work out your _salvation_ with fear and _trembling_,
