Luke 2:1-7 In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. [2] (This was the first census that took place while _Quirinius_ was _governor_ of Syria.) [3] And _everyone_ went to his own town to register. [4] So Joseph also went up from the town of _Nazareth_ in Galilee to Judea, to _Bethlehem_ the town of David, because he _belonged_ to the house and line of David. [5] He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was _expecting_ a child. [6] While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, [7] and she gave birth to her _firstborn_, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
Note: The New Testament scripture reference has been associated with an Old Testament reference showing the fulfillment of each Messianic prophecy.
Matthew 1:23 "The _virgin_ will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel"--which _means_, "God with us."
Luke 1:30-32 But the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. [31] You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. [32] He will be great and will be _called_ the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the _throne_ of his _father_ _David_,
Numbers 24:17 "I see him, but not now; I behold him, but not near. A star will come out of Jacob; a _scepter_ will rise out of Israel. He will crush the _foreheads_ of Moab, the skulls of all the sons of Sheth.
Matthew 2:1-2 After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, _during_ the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to _Jerusalem_ [2] and asked, "Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star in the east and have come to _worship_ him."
Luke 4:16-21 He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. And he stood up to read. [17] The scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. _Unrolling_ it, he found the place where it is written: [18] "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the _prisoners_ and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the _oppressed_, [19] to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor." [20] Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the _attendant_ and sat down. The eyes of _everyone_ in the synagogue were _fastened_ on him, [21] and he began by saying to them, "Today this _scripture_ is _fulfilled_ in your hearing."
Matthew 26:47-50 While he was still _speaking_, Judas, one of the Twelve, arrived. With him was a large crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests and the elders of the people. [48] Now the _betrayer_ had _arranged_ a signal with them: "The one I kiss is the man; arrest him." [49] Going at once to Jesus, Judas said, "_Greetings_, Rabbi!" and kissed him. [50] Jesus replied, "Friend, do what you came for." Then the men stepped forward, seized Jesus and _arrested_ him.
Matthew 26:14-16 Then one of the Twelve--the one called Judas Iscariot--went to the chief priests [15] and asked, "What are you willing to give me if I hand him over to you?" So they _counted_ out for him thirty silver coins. [16] From then on Judas _watched_ for an _opportunity_ to hand him over.
John 1:29 The next day John saw Jesus _coming_ _toward_ him and said, "Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!
Acts 8:32-35 The eunuch was reading this passage of Scripture: "He was led like a sheep to the _slaughter_, and as a lamb before the shearer is silent, so he did not open his mouth. [33] In his _humiliation_ he was _deprived_ of justice. Who can speak of his _descendants_? For his life was taken from the earth." [34] The eunuch asked Philip, "Tell me, please, who is the prophet talking about, himself or _someone_ else?" [35] Then Philip began with that very passage of Scripture and told him the good news about Jesus.
Luke 23:33 When they came to the place _called_ the Skull, there they _crucified_ him, along with the criminals--one on his right, the other on his left.
Matthew 27:35 When they had _crucified_ him, they divided up his clothes by _casting_ lots.
Matthew 27:46 About the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, ""Eloi, Eloi," "lama" "_sabachthani_?""--which means, "My God, my God, why have you _forsaken_ me?"
John 19:36 These things happened so that the _scripture_ would be _fulfilled_: "Not one of his bones will be broken,"
Matthew 27:57-60 As evening approached, there came a rich man from _Arimathea_, named Joseph, who had himself become a _disciple_ of Jesus. [58] Going to Pilate, he asked for Jesus' body, and Pilate _ordered_ that it be given to him. [59] Joseph took the body, _wrapped_ it in a clean linen cloth, [60] and placed it in his own new tomb that he had cut out of the rock. He rolled a big stone in front of the _entrance_ to the tomb and went away.
Matthew 28:2-7 There was a violent _earthquake_, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. [3] His _appearance_ was like _lightning_, and his clothes were white as snow. [4] The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men. [5] The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are _looking_ for Jesus, who was _crucified_. [6] He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. [7] Then go _quickly_ and tell his _disciples_: 'He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into _Galilee_. There you will see him.' Now I have told you."
