4-Prophecies Of The Messiah - KJV

1. His Birthplace.
Micah 5:2 But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the _thousands_ of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from _everlasting_.

Luke 2:1-7 And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar _Augustus_ that all the world should be taxed. [2] (And this taxing was first made when _Cyrenius_ was _governor_ of Syria.) [3] And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city. [4] And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of _Nazareth_, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called _Bethlehem_; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:) [5] To be taxed with Mary his _espoused_ wife, being great with child. [6] And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be _delivered_. [7] And she brought forth her _firstborn_ son, and wrapped him in _swaddling_ clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

Note: The New Testament scripture reference has been associated with an Old Testament reference showing the fulfillment of each Messianic prophecy.

2. Virgin Birth.
Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall _conceive_, and bear a son, and shall call his name _Immanuel_.

Matthew 1:23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name _Emmanuel_, which being _interpreted_ is, God with us.

3. Jesus Lineage Through Judah.
Genesis 49:8-10 Judah, thou art he whom thy _brethren_ shall praise: thy hand shall be in the neck of thine enemies; thy fathers _children_ shall bow down before thee. [9] Judah is a lions whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up? [10] The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a _lawgiver_ from _between_ his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the _gathering_ of the people be.

Luke 1:30-32 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. [31] And, behold, thou shalt _conceive_ in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. [32] He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the _Highest_: and the Lord God shall give unto him the _throne_ of his _father_ David:

Numbers 24:17 I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and shall smite the corners of Moab, and _destroy_ all the _children_ of Sheth.

Matthew 2:1-2 Now when Jesus was born in _Bethlehem_ of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to _Jerusalem_, [2] Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to _worship_ him.

4. The Messiah's Ministry.
Isaiah 61:1-3 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the _brokenhearted_, to proclaim liberty to the _captives_, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; [2] To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of _vengeance_ of our God; to comfort all that mourn; [3] To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for _mourning_, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of _righteousness_, the _planting_ of the LORD, that he might be _glorified_.

Luke 4:16-21 And he came to _Nazareth_, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read. [17] And there was _delivered_ unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written, [18] The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the _brokenhearted_, to preach _deliverance_ to the _captives_, and _recovering_ of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, [19] To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. [20] And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the _minister_, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were _fastened_ on him. [21] And he began to say unto them, This day is this _scripture_ _fulfilled_ in your ears.

5. Betrayed by a Friend.
Psalms 55:12-13 For it was not an enemy that _reproached_ me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me that did _magnify_ himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him: [13] But it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine _acquaintance_.

Matthew 26:47-50 And while he yet spake, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great _multitude_ with swords and staves, from the chief _priests_ and elders of the people. [48] Now he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, _Whomsoever_ I shall kiss, that same is he: hold him fast. [49] And _forthwith_ he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, master; and kissed him. [50] And Jesus said unto him, Friend, _wherefore_ art thou come? Then came they, and laid hands on Jesus and took him.

6. Betrayed for 30 Pieces of Silver.
Zechariah 11:12-13 And I said unto them, If ye think good, give me my price; and if not, forbear. So they _weighed_ for my price thirty pieces of silver. [13] And the LORD said unto me, Cast it unto the potter: a _goodly_ price that I was _prised_ at of them. And I took the thirty pieces of silver, and cast them to the potter in the _house_ of the LORD.

Matthew 26:14-16 Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests, [15] And said unto them, What will ye give me, and I will _deliver_ him unto you? And they _covenanted_ with him for thirty pieces of silver. [16] And from that time he sought _opportunity_ to betray him.

7. A Lamb to the Slaughter.
Isaiah 53:4-7 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. [5] But he was wounded for our _transgressions_, he was bruised for our _iniquities_: the _chastisement_ of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. [6] All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the _iniquity_ of us all. [7] He was _oppressed_, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the _slaughter_, and as a sheep before her _shearers_ is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.

John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, _Behold_ the Lamb of God, which _taketh_ away the sin of the world.

Acts 8:32-35 The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the _slaughter_; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth: [33] In his _humiliation_ his _judgment_ was taken away: and who shall declare his _generation_? for his life is taken from the earth. [34] And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom _speaketh_ the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man? [35] Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and _preached_ unto him Jesus.

8. He Would Be Pierced, Not Stoned.
Psalms 22:16 For dogs have _compassed_ me: the assembly of the wicked have _inclosed_ me: they pierced my hands and my feet.

Luke 23:33 And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they _crucified_ him, and the _malefactors_, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.

9. What Would Become of His Garments.
Psalms 22:18 They part my _garments_ among them, and cast lots upon my _vesture_.

Matthew 27:35 And they _crucified_ him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be _fulfilled_ which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.

10. Jesus' Last Words.
Psalms 22:1 My God, my God, why hast thou _forsaken_ me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my _roaring_?

Matthew 27:46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama _sabachthani_? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou _forsaken_ me?

11. Not a Bone Was Broken.
Psalms 34:20 He _keepeth_ all his bones: not one of them is _broken_.

John 19:36 For these things were done, that the _scripture_ should be _fulfilled_, A bone of him shall not be broken.

12. Where He Was Buried.
Isaiah 53:9 And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no _violence_, _neither_ was any deceit in his mouth.

Matthew 27:57-60 When the even was come, there came a rich man of _Arimathaea_, named Joseph, who also himself was Jesus disciple: [58] He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate _commanded_ the body to be _delivered_. [59] And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, [60] And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the _sepulchre_, and _departed_.

13. Jesus Resurrection.
Psalms 16:10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; _neither_ wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see _corruption_.

Matthew 28:2-7 And, behold, there was a great _earthquake_: for the angel of the Lord _descended_ from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. [3] His _countenance_ was like _lightning_, and his raiment white as snow: [4] And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men. [5] And the angel _answered_ and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was _crucified_. [6] He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. [7] And go quickly, and tell his _disciples_ that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into _Galilee_; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.
