Another 6000 Year Timeline

This timeline shows what some people term as dispensations. While God has always been available to people in the world, He has managed His people in different ways.

God dealt first with the patriarchs, then the nation of Israel, and finally the church. Each period had it prophets.

It is interesting that during each of these periods, someone went to heaven.

There were twenty generations from Adam to Abraham.
There were forty one generations from Abraham to Jesus.
There were approximately 80 generations from Jesus to our day.

Most of the world's population during the time of the patriarchs did not follow God. Most of the people during the time of the nation of Israel did not follow God. Even in Israel the faithful were the minority. During the time of the church those opposed to God have been the majority.

Looking down through the history of Israel one sees a cycle of deliverance, peace, disobedience, oppression, repentance, and finally, deliverance. This was true during the time of the Judges, and of the Kings. When the kingdom was divided, Israel had no good kings. Judah had some good, some mediocre, and some that were very bad.

A lesson learned observing this cycle is that each generation has to have its own revival. Children may learn principles to live by. But until the principles are actually their own, each generation is in danger of not valuing what had been given to them by God and their elders.
