Chapters: 1 2 3
Theme: A good life is a witness to the power of the Gospel. It is not enough to be educated. One must have self-control, spiritual fitness and a Christian character. Titus 1 __5-9_Part of my work has been to appoint elders. They must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, having children who believe, and not known for dissipation or rebellion. He must be able to exhort the truth and be capable of defending it.
__10-16_The culture you are working with is known for its lack of morals and at times they must be severely reproved for their own good. Your teaching should be strictly from scripture. Some may believe that they know God even while their deeds show that they are denying Him.
Titus 2 __6-10_Young men are to be sensible and pure, beyond reproach in their speech so that Satan has nothing bad to say about us. Urge slaves to be subject to their masters.
__11-15_Jesus came to bring salvation to all men. He has instructed us to deny worldly desire. We are to look forward to His return. He has given Himself for our redemption from lawless deeds, purifying a people as His own possession. We are to be zealous for good deeds.
Titus 3 __3-8_We all were once foolish and disobedient. But the kindness of God appeared. He saved us according to His mercy and not by our own deeds. He wants to renew us by His Holy Spirit. Our justification comes only by His grace. This makes it possible for us to become heirs to eternal life with Him.
__9-15_Stay away from foolish controversies. Warn fractious people at least twice. Then you should reject them if they will not listen, for they condemn themselves. Grace be with each of you.
